Filipino American performers are some of the most popular artists working in all aspects of the entertainment industries such as music, film, comedy & sports. Although artists of Filipino descent have played a myriad of roles, they have rarely been seen or understood as Filipinos. This has especially been the case in the field of acting, where they have been cast in just about every ethnic role. In recent years, several artists such as Chad Hugo of the Neptunes, Apl D. Ap (Allan Pineda Lindo) of the Black Eyed Peas, have chosen to represent their ethnic background openly and are proud to be Pinoy/Pinay.
